Many of you have experienced this already in yoga classes – the sensations of opening, clearing, lifting, flow, a new lightness. We will use specific yoga practices for the fourth chakra to untie the energy knots formed by unprocessed painful events. These feelings tell us that something from the past needs to be healed. Emotions tied up to the past manifest in our lives in the present we may be living with alienation, sadness, grief, loneliness, or a persisting lack of joy. When we got hurt we felt it in our hearts as a result, in an attempt to protect ourselves, we may have closed our hearts. Although these experiences happened in the past, they leave an imprint in us. In one way or another, we have all been wounded we may have experienced rejection, betrayal, bullying, or abuse.
